About Me
I was inspired to learn to sew at a young age. Both of my aunts sewed and I thought it was the coolest thing to be able to make clothes.
When I got to middle school, I was excited, to take Home Economics, not for the cooking, which was good, but for the sewing! I was always chubby growing up and my mom shopped for me at Sears in the "chubby" section or Lane Bryant which for a young girl the clothes were a little mature. The thought of being able to make clothes that fit me and fit my age was exciting to me. I had an awesome teacher who apparently saw my potential in that while everyone else was making vests, pillows or aprons, I made a two-piece suit.
She would not allow me to settle for just anything; if the seam was crooked, I had to take it out. I couldn't just make machine buttonholes, I had to do bound buttonholes. I didn't appreciate her high standards then, but over the 40+ years I have been sewing, I now understand and appreciate her being so strict on me. I went from that two-piece suit, to pants, dresses, prom dresses, coats, wedding dresses, men's clothing and whatever else my hands would find to do.
I love the excitement of creating beautiful things and can't wait to see the finished product.
I've sewn for individuals, groups, choirs, brides and wedding parties. I get great joy in the satisfaction of my customers and them knowing that their item(s) were made DISTINCTLY for them!
